According to the USDA, Maine is the seventh-ranked hungriest state in America. Of the 1.3 million people living in Maine, more than 196,000 are meal insecure—that’s almost 16% of the state. Worse, it’s the children who suffer the most. Twenty-one percent of Maine’s youth do not have enough to eat.
The Stroudwater Food Pantry (SFP) is a registered hunger relief agency with the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. Our mission is to feed those who are hungry and to reduce the number of meal insecure within the Greater Portland Community and throughout Southern Maine. In 2018 SFP distributed 65 tons of groceries to families in need—the equivalent of an estimated 325,000 meals. To support this effort and make a donation, visit our Donations page.
