According to the USDA, Maine is the seventh-ranked hungriest state in America. Of the 1.3 million people living in Maine, more than 196,000 are meal insecure—that’s almost 16% of the state. Worse, it’s the children who suffer the most. Twenty-one percent of Maine’s youth do not have enough to eat.
The Stroudwater Food Pantry (SFP) is a registered hunger relief agency with the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. Our mission is to feed those who are in need and to reduce the number of meal insecure within the Greater Portland Community. In 2017 SFP distributed 53 tons of groceries to needy families—the equivalent of an estimated 265,000 meals. To support this effort and make a donation, visit our Donations page.
