Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 8/16/20

Hi Team – My apologies for not publishing a pantry report for the last couple of weeks.  For the week ending Sunday the 16th your Stroudwater Food Pantry served 61 families and provided groceries to a total of 160 people.  We delivered groceries to the homes of 31 families through our Last Mile home delivery program.  3 new families joined the pantry this week.

Our supermarket food rescue pickups and food donations totaled 2,607 lbs.  Volunteers for this week included Alison, Amy & Jake, Angie, Anna, Deirdra & Dennis, Jean, Kiley, Laura, Lila, Steve D, Tom & Claire, and myself.

In the last 30 days your Stroudwater Food pantry has either distributed or home delivered a staggering amount of groceries to more people than ever before; all of this is attributed to the dedicated volunteers who pickup food, sort and bag it, distribute it on Sundays, and deliver it in our delivery van two days per week. Thank you, all of you for your hard work and dedication to provide hunger relief in the greater Portland area, and especially to those whose lives or livelihoods have been threatened by COVID-19.  Your act of kindness to those going through tumultuous times exemplifies our mission, “To do the work of Jesus by feeding those in need, and reducing the number of meal insecure in Southern Maine. For I was hungry and you fed me…”  God Bless you!   — Doug
