Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 1/3/21

Hi Team – Our first weekend of 2021 got off to a very busy start! Your Stroudwater Food Pantry served 108 families and provided groceries to a total of 240 people.  67 of the families received groceries through our Last Mile home delivery program.

Our supermarket food rescue pickups and food donations totaled 1,534 lbs.  Volunteers for this week included Amy & Jake, Angie, Dennis, Jean, Kelly, Steve D, Tom & Amy & Lila & Claire, and myself.

SFP was closed for all of Christmas weekend; to ensure clients would have sufficient food through the holiday, the pantry was open to all clients on Sunday December 20th, and again to all clients on Sunday January 3rd.  Additionally, volunteers delivered groceries on all four of our home delivery routes both weekends.  This meant volunteers pulled double duty for both food processing and for home delivery, and it also meant a team came in bright and early Friday morning, on New Year’s Day, to pick up, process, and deliver boxes of food.

Meeting the needs of the meal insecure during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays required the dedicated efforts of many volunteers; thank you everyone who helped to make the start of 2021 a special blessing for those in need! — Doug
