Hi Team – Happy Independence Day! I think the holiday impacted the pantry this past Sunday, we had only 24 families come in to be served, with a total of 90 people receiving groceries.
Sunday’s supermarket rescue food pickups yielded 1,634 lbs. This week’s volunteers included Anne, Karlene, Rena, Autumn W, Michael C, Steve, Jean, Adam, Jenn, Laura, Angie and myself.
The month of June was very generous to us; between pickups, purchases and donations it yielded almost 5 tons of food that we processed and distributed to the meal insecure of the greater Portland area. It was our busiest food processing month so far this year, and special recognition is warranted for the dedicated Friday crews who drove to the supermarkets, hauled food back to the church in their cars, then weighted, sorted, bagged and put it all away in preparation for Sunday distributions. God Bless You All, and Happy 4th! — Doug
