Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 7/9/17

Hi Team – It was a busy Sunday at your Stroudwater Food Pantry this week, we served 43 families for a total of 132 people receiving groceries.  5 new families joined us this week.

Sunday’s supermarket rescue food pickups yielded 2,154 lbs.  This week’s volunteers included Karlene, Rena, Autumn W, Michael C, Steve, Jean, Adam, Jenn, Ellen and myself.

The start of July ushered in with a big bang, and not just with Independence Day fireworks.  Our first Friday pickup for the month yielded almost 1.1 tons in supermarket rescue food alone, leaving our three refrigerators and four freezers bulging.  2 days later 43 families reaped the rewards of all that abundance as our volunteers did their very best to ensure our clients walked out the door with a 14 day supply of food; a special Thank You to the Sunday crew who worked hard to care for our clients this week!  Additionally –

Thank you Bill Barrows for fabricating big steel handles for one of our two new U-Boat food carts!  We now have a fleet of carts that enables us to unload our vehicles and move food around inside the church, just like supermarkets do.

And thank you Chad and Jean Spickel for donating the oversized air conditioner you were no longer using!  We now use it to chill down the pantry storage room every Friday through Sunday, to better extend the shelf life of produce and baked goods before distribution on Sunday afternoons.  Thank you All !!  —  Doug
