Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 10/7/18

Hi Team – It was another very busy weekend at your Stroudwater Food Pantry, as we served 58 families, providing groceries to a total of 202 people this week.  11 new families joined the pantry.

We picked up and processed over a ton of food this past Friday, a good bit of which was a very generous donation by our longtime friend and supporter Mike Curran.  Volunteers for this week included Angie, Cat, Debbie, Greg, Jean, Karlene, Nicki, Phil, Rebecca, Rena, Steve and myself, with Mike H. offering prayers for anyone seeking prayer.

This week we were in contact with our friends at Cheverus High School; Cheverus has graciously agreed to once again sponsor Stroudwater Food Pantry with 75 Thanksgiving dinner baskets.  Additionally, Mike Curran offered to sponsor us with some frozen turkeys as well.  We will use those turkeys, and others from a forthcoming turkey drive, to build Thanksgiving dinner baskets of our own.   Like the boxes from Cheverus, our baskets will include a frozen turkey with all the trimmings for a complete dinner for up to 8 people.  In all we expect to prepare and distribute more than 100 Thanksgiving dinners to people who would otherwise not have such a meal for Thanksgiving.

Our fourth annual distribution of Thanksgiving dinner baskets will be on Tuesday, November 20th.  SAVE THE DATE if you wish to volunteer for that day!  We will build 25 or more dinner baskets in the morning, then distribute more than 100 in the afternoon.  The exact timing of the day is still TBD, so stay tuned for further updates!
