Hi Team – This Sunday we made up for last week’s light attendance due to winter storm Harper, as we served 56 families, providing groceries to a total of 143 people. 11 new families joined the pantry this week.
Our supermarket fresh rescue food pickups, outside donations, and purchased foods totaled 12,458 lbs. Volunteers for this week included Anna, Anne, Cat, Damaris, Deb & Greg, Debbie & Shay, Jean, Laura, Lois, Michelle, Nicki, Phil, Rena, Sandra, Steve, myself. Mike H. and Clay offered prayer for anyone seeking prayer.
For the first time in three years we opened on a week night. We were open Tuesday at 6pm in support of the community served by the Westbrook Food Pantry. WFP’s operations were impacted by the fire at the Westbrook Community Center. It was a slow night Tuesday with only one client visiting, but on Sunday we received more than a dozen families normally served by Westbrook Food Pantry. We expect to continue receiving some of their families until WFP get back to full operations. Please keep them in your prayers that this happens soon.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday, and who stepped in to help ensure that our community of families who sought food pantry groceries had a place they could go to receive them! — Doug
