Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 11/05/17

Hi Team –Yesterday was a busy Sunday at your Stroudwater Food Pantry, we served 45 families, providing groceries to a total of 138 people.  6 new families joined the pantry.

Our supermarket rescue food pickups, plus church donations and this week’s purchased food yielded 3,091 lbs.; that’s one and a half tons of food!  This week’s volunteers included Anna, Anne, Lois, Karlene, Autumn, Michael C, Steve, Adam, Bill & Dee, Mike H, Ellen, Angie and myself.   What’s going on at SFP:

  • Yesterday your Stroudwater Food Pantry kicked off a new food campaign, asking each family in our church to bring in one needed food item per week.  The food item for the week is announced the previous Sunday.  This Sunday we collected 167 lbs. of food!  Thank you very much to everyone who brought pasta for the pantry!
  • SFP is planning a happy Thanksgiving for families who cannot afford one.  Cheverus High School has pledged to provide us 75 Thanksgiving dinner baskets complete with turkeys and all the trimmings.  Like last year, we are planning to build our own dinner baskets as well, and this year are targeting to distribute 100 Thanksgiving dinners to families who otherwise would not have one.  We have already signed up 33 families to receive them; if you know of a family who would welcome a dinner basket, please let me or anyone in the pantry know.
  • The Pantry Prayer Ministry has proven to be a blessing and physical healing for clients seeking prayer on Sundays.   This week a client made a decision for Christ, praise the Lord!  Yesterday the Prayer Ministry was staffed with three volunteers;  if you have a heart to pray for others, see Adam or myself to join us in an opportunity to minister to the spiritual needs of our community.
