Hi Team –This week your Stroudwater Food Pantry we served 40 families, providing groceries to a total of 134 people.  5 new families joined the pantry.

Our supermarket rescue food pickups, plus church donations and this week’s purchased food yielded 1,707 lbs.  This week’s volunteers included Adam, Anna, Anne, Autumn, Ellen, Jean, Laura, Lois, Michael C, Mike H, Nina, Rena and myself.

What’s Happening at SFP:

  • Spectrum Communications blessed your Stroudwater Food Pantry with a $1,000 donation this week!  Since our beginning, Spectrum (formally Time Warner Cable) has been a terrific partner with us in helping to meet the needs of the meal insecure in the greater Portland area.  They just concluded a large food drive for us in November.  Their financial donation will go a long way in helping support our 2018 costs for food.  Thank you Spectrum Communications!
  • Adam is continuing to provide our leftover Sunday food to a motel where (mostly) homeless people live temporarily, and where the food can be shared among the residents.  He took 4 of our turkey dinners there during Thanksgiving so the entire motel could all share in a Thanksgiving dinner.
  • We will be giving away our Christmas Dinner baskets on Friday 12/22 at 1:00.  Our Christmas dinner distribution is a much smaller effort than Thanksgiving, we usually try to target families who could not or did not get a Thanksgiving dinner basket.  Please reach out to Adam or I if you are interested in helping out with the Christmas Dinner Basket distribution.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!    — Doug
