Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 11/17/19

Hi Team – November is the busiest month of year for your Stroudwater Food Pantry, and this past Sunday was no exception.  We served 49 families, providing groceries to a total of 145 people.  6 new families joined the pantry this week.

Our supermarket food rescue pickups, food donations and purchases totaled 1,747 lbs.  Volunteers for this week included, Anne, Cat, Debbie, Iman & Mohammed, Jean, Karlene, Laura, Lois, Michelle, Phil, Rena, Steve, Tom & Lila, and myself.

This past Friday we hosted the first of three planned builds of Thanksgiving dinner boxes.  It turned out we had so much help that we used up almost all our supplies and built 156 dinner boxes!  Our other two builds were cancelled.  Friday’s build helpers included Anna, Damaris, Debbie, Jean, Laura, Lois, Steve, Tammy and myself, PLUS five volunteers from IDEXX Corporation: Brad, Igor, Kurt, Tim, and Tony; PLUS our Agency Rep from the Good Shepherd Food Bank, Jen MacDonald!  With that many people in the church, we knocked out all the dinner boxes in no time.

If you would like to help distribute dinner boxes, please contact either Laura or myself to join us on one of the days listed below:

DISTRIBUTE Dinner Boxes (requires 2-3 people each day)

  • Friday the 22nd          from 1-3pm
  • Monday the 25th from 1-3pm
  • Tuesday the 26th from 1-3pm

For anyone wishing to donate a turkey, NO signup is required, just bring your turkeys to the Pantry on the mornings of Friday the 22nd or Sunday the 24th.  And we welcome donations of cans of turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and stove top stuffing.  God Bless you all, and thank you for your continued support of your Stroudwater Food Pantry!  —  Doug
