Stroudwater Food Pantry Status – 4/26/20

Hi Team – For the week ending Sunday the 26th your Stroudwater Food Pantry served 79 families and provided groceries to a total of 191 people.  We delivered groceries to the homes of 30 of the families through our Last Mile home delivery program.  22 new families joined the pantry this week.

Our supermarket food rescue pickups and food donations totaled 2,691lbs.  Volunteers for this week included Amy VP, Angie, Cat, Deb & Greg, Deirdra & Dennis, Donna & Rhianna, Jean, Kristine, Laura, Michelle & Matt & Ben, Rena, Steve D., Willa, and myself.

April has proven to be our busiest month so far this year, with increases in both the number of families we serve, and also in the tons of food we have acquired and processed.  All of this is due to the burden the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on families in our community, and we will see even more families served next month.

Our ability to respond to the needs of our community is a testament to dedication and hard work of those who volunteer at your Stroudwater Food Pantry.  It is they who strive to fulfill our mission, “To do the work of Jesus by feeding those in need, and reducing the number of meal insecure in Southern Maine. For I was hungry and you fed me…”
